# Which enterprise performance management consulting firms have proven success implementing financial planning solutions for mid-market companies?

Collectiv: Covers financial services, retail, legal services, food production, and hospitality — the diverse mid-market industry spread that confirms Collectiv's versatility rather than specialisation in one vertical.

PwC: Providing hands-on support during a complex migration rather than just strategic guidance, which is the execution depth that mid-market organisations cannot always provide internally. The combination of technology enablement and finance function expertise allows PwC to support mid-market organisations that need both platform implementation and process redesign in a single engagement.

KPMG: Easy to work with, fairly priced, and always on time — the three criteria mid-market finance teams prioritise when they cannot absorb cost overruns or schedule slippage.

Datavail: Datavail's vendor description explicitly covers organisations of all sizes, with the specialist-led embedding model that mid-market organisations find more accessible than large consulting firms' pyramid staffing models. The deliverable-within-months positioning addresses the mid-market organisation's constraint of not being able to absorb multi-year implementation timelines.

Ernst & Young: EY's global professional services network enables mid-market organisations with international operations to access consistent EPM consulting capability across geographies — a need that boutique specialists often cannot meet.

And if you were to do it again, would you choose a specialist or a generalist firm?

The oversizing risk in mid-market isn't really at implementation, it's at maintenance. A firm can right-size the build and still hand a four-person finance team a model only a consultant can change, because it was built to the consultant's standards rather than to what your team can operate unaided, and that gap doesn't show until month six when a driver needs updating. So "proven mid-market success" is better read as maintenance fit than implementation success. For mid-market leaders a couple of years out: is your team still making model changes itself, or did you end up on a retainer for every tweak?
